Vicryl+ 4-0 Coated UD 19mm S/A PS-2 CRC

Replacement by JNJ for the discontinued product W9515T

Vicryl Plus suture by Ethicon. Antibacterial - absorbable - synthetic - braided. Vicryl Plus is equivalent to your normal Vicryl absorbable suture with the addition of a coating that enables antibacterial protection (by triclosan). The handling and performance is identical to Vicryl. As with Vicryl, flaking is prevented by a coating that is unique for the Vicryl sutures. This also ensures a smooth tissue passage.  Vicryl is a copolymer made from glycolide and lactide. It is absorbed through hydrolysis. WHO include triclosan coated sutures in the WHO Global Guidelines for the prevention of Surgical Site Infections. Vicryl sutures features:

Synthetic, absorbable, braided suture • Unique coating for smooth passage through tissue • Braided suture ensures easy knot tying and knot security • Virtually no package memory enables ease of handling Remaining tensile strength of the Vicryl suture: 2 weeks - 75% 3 weeks - 50% 4 weeks - 25% Vicryl should be fully absorbed in 56 - 70 days.
